'CARTA' consortium funded

CARIM’s collaborative team around aortic disease has secured funding from the Dutch Heart Foundation’s cardiovascular Public-Private Partnership programme for the Cardiovascular contractilopathy Assessment and treatment Response through patient-specific engineered Tissue Analysis (CARTA) project.

Lead applicant Koen Reesink: “We are really excited to be enabled by the Dutch Heart Foundation to build on our MAPEX infrastructure and ongoing SGF-funded CELLSYSTEMICS project. In CARTA, we are committed to bringing hiPSC-based tissue modelling towards clinical utility!”

“Our partnership with Optics11Life, leader in mechanobiology functional assays, is essential for developing the CARTA platform from the current TRL3 to the desired TRL6 level. Of course, our internal collaborations within CARIM+HVC, as well as those with external stakeholders will definitely be key to success!”

CARTA will take off April 2026 and run for 4 years.
