Elham Bidar appointed as Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery
As of 1 July 12025, Dr Elham Bidar has been appointed Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Maastricht University. Elham has been working as a cardiothoracic surgeon since 2019. He completed his medical training, PhD trajectory, and specialisation in cardiothoracic surgery at Maastricht UMC+. On 1 April 2025, he was appointed Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTC). In this role, he combines clinical care, teaching, and research within the CARIM+HVC.
His daily responsibilities include leading the CTC department and performing surgical procedures, including treatments for heart rhythm disorders and aortic conditions.
As professor, Elham will focus on translational and experimental research within CARIM+HVC.
