New executive board appointed for the EVC
The European Vascular Course (EVC), the leading European conference focused on cardiovascular training and education, proudly announces the appointment of a new Executive Board. The event, held annually at MECC Maastricht, will now be led by a new leadership team succeeding Prof. Michael Jacobs, who has played a pivotal role over the last 27 years in shaping EVC into a globally recognised event.
The newly appointed EVC Executive Board is led by Prof. Barend Mees, vascular surgeon from Maastricht UMC+. Together with Dr Marie Josee van Rijn, vascular surgeon from Erasmus MC Rotterdam, Dr Çağdaş Ünlü vascular surgeon from NoordWest Ziekenhuisgroep Alkmaar and Ernst Jan Broer, chief financial officer, he forms the new board that will guide EVC into its next chapter. This team brings a wealth of expertise across vascular surgery, endovascular innovation, and medical education.
Attended by over 1,250 participants from 50 different countries, the upcoming edition of EVC will take place from 8 to 10 March 2026 at MECC Maastricht. Last week, the contract securing MECC Maastricht as the host venue for the next five years was officially signed. The agreement was signed by Prof. Barend Mees and Frank Mimpen, Commercial Director of MECC Maastricht, reinforcing the long-standing partnership and laying a solid foundation for the future of the conference.
