During the SEOHS symposium on January 23, Lia Bica, PhD candidate at CARIM+HVC, received the Prof. Dr. Klopper Award from the Foundation for Scientific Research by Assistants in Surgical Specialties.

Lia works within the national consortium Aneurysm-NL on the development of a translational smooth muscle cell platform for drug research in aneurysms. This research is a close collaboration between the Department of Biochemistry at Maastricht University and the Departments of Vascular Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Maastricht UMC+.
