Judith Sluimer is awarded a prestigious Vici grant from NWO for the project 'Resetting fibroblast metabolism rejuvenates aged vasculature'.

Early recognition of talent is one of the key strategies of CARIM to coach and prepare gifted young academics for their future academic career. CARIM stimulates and supports talented students and staff by offering grants for research programmes at each step of their career, be it at Bachelor, Master, post graduate, PhD or postdoc level. 

Dr Uyen Nguyen (Dept of Cardiology) and Dr Roel Meiburg (Biomedical Engineer, TU Eindhoven) have been awarded a Dekker Team Science grant by the Dutch Heart Foundation.

Prof. Marc Hemmelder (Dept of Internal Medicine) and his team received a ZonMw grant to promote early palliative care for dialysis patients who are non-waitlisted for transplantation.
 

Dr Magdi Nagy (Dept of Biochemistry) and Prof. Peter de Leeuw (Dept of Internal Medicine) have been appointed as CARIM Confidential Contact Persons.

CARIM researchers  have discovered a promising new approach to treating diastolic heart failure, a condition affecting around 120,000 people in the Netherlands.

The project 'Complex thrombo-inflammation in Long-COVID: mechanism, biomarkers and therapeutic strategies', coordinated by Prof. Henri Spronk (Dept of Biochemistry) and Dr Michiel Warlé (Vascular Surgery, Radboud UMC), has been granted by ZonMw.

Dr Sabine Daemen (Dept of Internal Medicine) received a Career Development Grant (160k) from the Dutch Digestive Foundation (MLDS).

As of 1 October 2024, Casper Schalkwijk and Joost Lumens have been appointed as Division Leaders Vessels and Heart. Judith Sluimer will success Hugo ten Cate as Division Leader Blood in March 2025.
